Just one more story justifying my hardline stance against "church discipline". The people who are most obsessed by church discipline are those who are readily willing to abuse the power that it grants them. No, thank you. Paul's comments were directed to a specific church, not to an eternal policy. The Holy Spirit is perfectly capable of disciplining those who believe in Christ. These guys need to stay in their lane and TheobrosRUs need to find Jesus.

This guy: "I'm so mad that you said we treat abused women badly and put them under church discipline! I will prove that by treating you badly and putting you under church discipline!" I mean, it's kind of a gift that he just went and proved we are right. But that's quite a lack of perspective there.
Your part 2 of the Good Samaritan parable is powerful. I used that parable once, in a series about church wounds, and got a very heated email from a member of our former church. It definitely puts things into perspective.
Jennifer-Every point you make is accurate and a call to a better way for the 3 your email is addressed to. I stand with you. I am a TE in the PCA. Thanks for leading us all in a better way.
I applaud your courage to resist the tactics of those who are more focused on organizational image control than addressing the cause of the abuse incidents. They need to focus on holding the abusers accountable while protecting the victims rather than attacking the messenger.
Praise the Lord for granting you boldness and wisdom. This should be taught in every Bible school and seminary.

Excellently said. They should be frightened of you and other witnesses to their malfeasance, since they are clearly no longer led by God.
